Check AI drafts for facts and promises

Illustrative situation

A polished draft includes a service claim that the organisation does not actually offer. Polished language can make an invented service promise harder to notice. Review what the draft says before refining how it sounds. Dates, locations, availability and commitments should match current approved information.

What this means for your practice

Review factual statements, promises and sources before refining tone. Fluency should not replace a check against the organisation's current approved information.

A practical conversation with your supplier

Put an unsupported fictional claim in a sample draft and run the proposed review process. Does someone catch it? Ask who owns the final acceptance. A useful reviewer can trace important statements to their source rather than relying on the text sounding professional or being similar to previous messages.

Plan the first improvement

Give reviewers a practical order for checking drafts. Start with the service being described, the factual details and any promises about what will happen. Then consider whether the wording leaves out an important limit or implies something the practice has not agreed. Style and tone come after those checks. Keep the current approved information easy to reach so review does not depend entirely on memory. Where a statement has no supporting source, the reviewer should remove it or seek the appropriate clarification rather than assume it is true because it sounds familiar.

Use sample drafts containing realistic mistakes to rehearse the process. Include a wrong location or an unsupported response commitment as well as an obviously invented claim. Record the final responsible reviewer and maintain the accepted version through release. Over time, review repeated correction types. They may show that a source needs updating, a task is unsuitable for assistance or the instruction is inviting unsupported detail.
