Recheck related choices when an earlier form answer changes

Changing a location or request type can leave an old dependent selection in place. The form looks complete even though the selected combination is no longer offered.

What to change

Ask the supplier to identify which later choices depend on an earlier answer and help visitors review only the details genuinely affected by a change.

A worked example

Illustrative example

A visitor switches from one branch to another. A service unavailable at the new branch is cleared with a clear request to choose again.

Why this matters to your practice

Your reception team will often know which combinations make sense better than a developer does. Write down the relationships between location, service, request type and any other dependent choices. The supplier can then demonstrate how a changed answer affects the rest of the form. Ask for explanations wherever the visitor needs to choose again. Keeping every old answer may look convenient, but it is unhelpful if reception must later telephone someone to untangle an impossible combination.

How to check the result

Accept when every final combination is supported by the current earlier answers and any necessary re-entry has an understandable reason.

A mistake to avoid

Clearing all later answers automatically may be simpler to build but creates avoidable work when some answers remain valid.
