What to change
Ask your supplier to avoid unnecessary popup layers and provide a clear return to the original question wherever a second panel is essential.
A worked example
Illustrative example
A visitor opens an explanation from a preference popup, closes the explanation and returns to the same preference question with their selection intact.

Why this matters to your practice
Opening one popup inside another can make a simple task hard to follow. Before accepting that arrangement, ask whether the extra help could appear within the existing panel. If a second layer is necessary, each should have a clear purpose and return route. Have the supplier demonstrate closing only the help, with the original answers preserved underneath. The visitor should know which panel will close before choosing Close and should not have to reconstruct the task afterwards.
A practical review example
A visitor may open an explanation from a contact-preference panel after making a selection. Ask the supplier to close only the explanation and show that the original choice remains intact with a useful next keyboard position. Then close the first panel through the intended route. Each action should affect the layer the visitor expects. If several similar Close labels or arrows make that difficult to predict, a simpler expandable explanation within the original panel may be easier to understand and maintain.
How to check the result
Accept when every layer has a distinct purpose and predictable return behaviour, with no lost input or focus outside the active layer.
A mistake to avoid
Using the same generic Close label in a confusing visual stack can make it difficult to predict which panel will disappear.
