What to change
The redirect should preserve only the query information the destination is intended to accept. Ask the measurement owner to define the approved campaign fields, then have the developer show that they survive the specific old-domain or old-path rule. Include a harmless unrelated parameter to demonstrate the agreed handling. The result should retain useful attribution without treating every arbitrary query value as necessary or safe to forward.
A worked example
Illustrative example
Illustrative test: Follow a sample email link through the old-domain redirect. Record the final browser address alongside the approved campaign fields so the analyst can reproduce the comparison. A newsletter link may pass through the old domain before reaching a renamed guide. The supplier uses harmless campaign labels to demonstrate that the intended ones survive that complete route. An unrelated test parameter is handled according to the agreed policy rather than preserved by default. Your analyst can then reproduce the source comparison from the recorded starting and landing addresses without using real recipient details in the test.

What this means for your practice
A campaign address can contain small labels identifying the newsletter or promotion that brought a visitor. An automatic move to a new page may accidentally drop those labels while still opening the right article. Ask your measurement owner which labels are needed, then have the supplier test the complete journey from the distributed link. Use fictional, non-personal values during review. Preserving everything after an address is not automatically the right answer, since unrelated values may have no approved purpose. The finished route should deliver the promised content and retain the specific campaign information your reporting uses. Keep both the starting and final addresses as evidence.
How to check the result
The approved campaign information survives and the page still resolves correctly.
A mistake to avoid
Preserving arbitrary parameters without review can carry unnecessary data downstream.
