Keep tracked profile links working after website changes

A website action on a practice profile includes campaign formatting that the new website no longer accepts.

What to change

Retain useful measurement only when the complete public link still works. Compare the tracked address with the clean destination and ask the measurement owner which parameters are intentional. The technical owner should explain how redirects handle those fields. Use harmless fictional campaign values for the test, and verify both the landing content and the resulting approved source information rather than treating a correctly loaded homepage as the whole acceptance test.

A worked example

Illustrative example

Illustrative test: Tracked and untracked versions reach the same intended page in fresh sessions. A profile action may include a campaign label that a new routing rule accidentally drops or rejects. The supplier compares the complete link with the clean destination using fictional values. Your analyst verifies the approved source information after arrival, while the practice checks the actual landing content. Both parts matter: opening the right homepage does not establish that the distributed tracked link still supports the reporting distinction it was designed to provide.

What this means for your practice

A listing's website link may include campaign labels to identify visits from that profile. A redesign or routing change can break the full link even while the clean homepage address works. Copy the complete public link and ask your supplier to compare both versions. Your measurement owner should confirm which labels are intentional and how they should survive any automatic move. Use fictional values for testing and keep personal identifiers out of public campaign addresses. Acceptance has two parts: the visitor reaches the promised page, and the approved campaign context remains understandable. Testing only the unlabelled destination leaves the actual distributed link unverified.

How to check the result

The action works and approved campaign context remains interpretable.

A mistake to avoid

Public tracking parameters must not contain patient or recipient identities.
