Describe professional interests without inventing services

A biography mentions a practitioner's interest in a topic. Visitors assume the practice offers a dedicated appointment for it even though the description is personal background. A special interest can provide helpful background without describing a separate service. Keep it clearly connected to the practitioner's actual role and current appointments.

What to change

Separate professional background from the services currently available here. Ask the practitioner to verify both the wording and any implications created by nearby appointment links.

A worked example

Illustrative example

A therapist profile mentions an interest in working with musicians, while its bookable services remain named consultations and reviews. The page avoids inventing a musicians clinic that the practice has not established.

Put it into practice

Ask the person reviewing the profile whether each subject has a corresponding offer that patients can enquire about. If it does not, avoid a prominent button or heading that makes it look bookable. The distinction matters most to visitors arriving directly from a search result.

Keep the distinction visible in headings as well as paragraphs. A heading called “Services” can make background interests appear bookable even when the detailed biography carefully avoids that claim.

What to agree before publishing

Separate background expertise and interests from currently offered appointments. Ask the practitioner which statements describe their professional interests and which correspond to a service patients can actually request here. Keep those categories clear in headings and links. A search visitor may read a subject name as an offer even if the full paragraph is more cautious. A useful profile gives context without turning every mentioned topic into an apparent service or implying an individual recommendation from a general statement of interest.

How to check the result

Readers can distinguish biography context from a specific service they can reserve.

A mistake to avoid

Do not convert every interest mentioned in a biography into a new service page or appointment category.
