Make the practice logo a dependable link to the homepage

A logo may look clickable but have no meaningful accessible name, or its click target may exclude part of the image. The familiar home route becomes inconsistent.

What to change

Ask the supplier to make the header logo one clear home link, with the same understandable action across phone and desktop versions.

A worked example

A visitor on a deep service page activates the practice's home link from the header and arrives at the homepage predictably.

Why this matters to your practice

Many people use the practice logo as a familiar route back to the homepage. Keep that expectation consistent across service pages, branch pages and mobile headers. Ask your supplier to demonstrate the destination and the name spoken by screen-reading software. A logo file name is not a useful description of where the link leads. Check the versions used on light and dark backgrounds too, since a reliable home route must be visible as well as technically present.

How to check the result

Accept when the same understandable home action is available across header variants and works with pointer, touch and keyboard input.

A mistake to avoid

A descriptive image alternative can still leave a confusing link if additional hidden text repeats or contradicts its destination.
