Keep the answer visible above the phone keyboard

Opening a phone keyboard can cover the field being edited or the instruction explaining it. Visitors type without seeing the result and may not know how to continue.

What to change

Ask your supplier to test real phone typing, keeping the active answer and its relevant guidance visible when the on-screen keyboard is open.

A worked example

Illustrative example

A visitor enters a message near the bottom of a contact panel while the field's current line remains visible above the keyboard.

Why this matters to your practice

The real phone keyboard takes up a substantial part of the screen. A form that looks spacious in a desktop preview may become awkward as soon as someone starts typing. Ask your supplier to test the lowest questions and longer message boxes on an actual handset. The visitor should see the text they are editing and enough nearby context to know what belongs there. Include any form displayed inside a popup, where competing scroll areas can make the problem more noticeable.

A practical review example

A visitor correcting a long message near the bottom of a popup should be able to see the line being edited. Ask your supplier to move between the lower questions using the keyboard's own Next action where available. The page should reveal the new question sensibly rather than jump away or hide it behind the keyboard. Review the same form outside a popup if both versions exist. A desktop phone-shaped preview cannot reproduce every part of this practical typing experience.

How to check the result

Accept when typing, correction and progression work with the keyboard present and dismissing it is not required after every character.

A mistake to avoid

A desktop mobile preview without an actual virtual keyboard cannot establish whether the editing area stays visible.
