What to change
Ask your supplier to demonstrate the document viewer as part of the page journey, with usable controls and an independent opening route where appropriate.
A worked example
Illustrative example
A visitor inspects an information leaflet in the embedded viewer, leaves its toolbar and reaches the separate Open document link without restarting navigation.

Why this matters to your practice
A leaflet embedded in the page can be convenient, but its viewer must remain possible to enter and leave. Ask your supplier to demonstrate its page and zoom controls using a keyboard, then continue to the surrounding website. Keep an ordinary opening or download route outside the viewer where appropriate. This provides another way to reach the document if the embedded tool fails. The file and its viewer are separate parts of the experience and both deserve review.
A practical review example
A visitor may read a leaflet inside the website, enlarge one page and then continue to the contact link below it. Ask your supplier to complete that sequence using a keyboard and reading software, moving out of the viewer in both directions. Include a long document and a loading failure. A separate document link should remain reachable outside a failing viewer. The file itself and the embedded tool are distinct parts of the experience, so a usable PDF does not automatically prove its on-page presentation works.
How to check the result
Accept when the viewer's useful controls are available and both entry and exit remain predictable through keyboard interaction.
A mistake to avoid
A working PDF file does not guarantee that the website's chosen embedded viewer provides an equally usable interaction.
